Hello all!
First, I want to thank everyone who commented on
the first proposed research agenda question. If you have not had a
chance to read about everyone's work and thoughts on that question,
please do so when you get a chance!
We will now move on to the second proposed research question, which is:
"How does a more diverse and nutritious diet become culturally viable? (unpacking supply and demand for food)".
Please post a couple of paragraphs with your thoughts on this question (see below for a guide on what to comment on) by October 31.
Remember that the idea is not to restrict CAN’s work to a narrow field, but to identify the overlaps that exist in the work being done by network researchers. The four broad research questions to discuss and develop were based on discussions among CAN researcher liaisons, and the research work that CAN is currently doing. The questions are meant to be used as starting points of discussion, to be refined during the process, which is being approached as an exchange or dialogue among the CAN network researchers. The end goal is to have final research agenda questions that reflect the insights from the discussion, some text from the discussion that reflects CAN’s various experiences and lessons learned so far, and some ideas of specific bounded questions that inform the larger question.
Just to remind you, here is the process (with some small changes):
1. Please post a comment at least two paragraphs
long with your thoughts on the research question as it is, addressing the following
questions:
a.
What kind of research are you doing related to
this question (CAN-related or independent)?
b.
What are the lessons learned from your research
on this question?
c.
What kinds of specific questions are necessary
to answer the broad question?
d.
How can this question better reflect the work
you are doing? What are your
future plans for work related to this question?
2. All comments will be recorded in a discussion
thread, which means that you should respond to others’ postings and develop the
discussion! You have all also been invited as administrators of the blog, and
are welcome to start new posts with new discussion threads.3. Each question will be posted separately (consecutively) as separate blog posts with a few weeks of discussion for each question. Then the next week we will start the cycle over again with a three-week discussion on the following research question, until all four questions are completed.
4. CAN will Distill results from each question discussion. Adjust questions, synthesize comments/contributions. First draft of CAN research agenda with synthesis of experiences and lessons learned and ideas for future projects is expected in early 2012.
En español:
Estimados,
1. Favor de poner unos dos párafos de comentarios enfocados en la pregunta propuesta, contestando las siguientes preguntas: Please post a comment at least two paragraphs
long with your thoughts on the research question as it is, addressing the following
questions:
How can this question better reflect the work
you are doing?
